On February 12, 2016, I had the privelege of attending an event hosted by the Whittier Republican Women's Federated. The event was in honor of Kris "Tanto" Paronto an American hero. Kris along with his five military brothers were working as security contractors for the CIA during the 2012 Benghazi attacks. For 13 long, hard fought hours, Kris and the five other security team members repelled attack after attack in order to save tens of American lives at risk in Benghazi. It was because of their heroic efforts that many Americans were saved that day.
The issue has become a strong source of controversy because of the refusal on the part of the American government to send assistance to these individuals trapped in Benghazi during the attacks. The story becomes all the more important as six Americans fought of hundreds of enemy combatants and showed the entire world what American Exceptionalism truly means. For their actions that day, a grateful nation stands behind them and honors them for their service.
